Mambu names Fernando Zandona as new permanent CEO

Fernando Zandona (pictured) has been appointed permanent chief executive officer of cloud banking platform Mambu, having served on an interim basis since June.

He stepped into the role following the departure of Mambu’s co-founder and former chief executive officer Eugene Danilkis, who stepped down in June with immediate effect, citing “personal reasons”.

Prior to serving as interim chief executive officer, Zandona was chief product and technology officer at Mambu.

As permanent chief executive officer, he will now spearhead the business as it enters its next phase of growth and will be based at the head office in Amsterdam.

Fritz Oidtmann, chair of the Mambu board, said: “During his time as interim CEO, Fernando has demonstrated deep industry and technical expertise, combined with a natural aptitude for leadership.

“His in-depth understanding of cloud technology, experience working in customer-centric businesses, and track record of developing high-performance teams focused on innovation are a natural fit with Mambu.”

He added: “We’re confident he’s the right person to take the business forward on a permanent basis, as we continue to transform the banking industry and help our customers to deliver delightful financial experiences.”

Prior to joining Mambu in 2022, Zandona was general manager of AWS Fargate and Amazon Linux.
