Tanya Ziv has joined European Open Banking platform Yapily as chief operating officer, having previously served as Currencycloud’s chief compliance officer.
In her new role, Ziv will help to build a “solid operational core” and support the development of the team as Yapily scales.
At payment solutions provider Currencycloud, which was acquired by Visa recently, she built the compliance and operations functions. Ziv has also worked at Lebara and eTORO during her career.
“Moving money should not be as complicated and slow as it is today,” Ziv said.
“There are too many parties involved in each and every transaction, all of whom are taking bites out of those funds. With all the innovation and technical capabilities available today, this shouldn’t be an issue anymore.”
She added: “Open Banking is perfectly set up to solve this problem – and I believe it is the right path forward. That is one reason I seized the opportunity to join a scaleup with a clear mission to help fintechs and merchants embrace Open Banking.”
Her appointment follows a number of senior hires made by Yapily recently, including Marc Kuzak as vice president of legal, who had previously worked at Plaid and Barclays UK Ventures.
In April, Yapily appointed Stefano Paoletti as senior vice president of sales, UK, after roles at Ozone API and Token.io, and Lisa Gutu, the former chief operating officer of Salt Edge, who joined Yapily as vice president of sales in Europe, in March.
Stefano Vaccino, founder and chief executive officer of Yapily, added: “As Yapily gears up for more growth in the second half of the year, it’s vital that we have the best leadership team in place to support the wider team and help drive us forward.
“Tanya brings a great wealth of experience from the fintech and payments sector, and we look forward to working with her in our mission to create a global open economy that works for everyone through Open Banking.”
