Money-saving app Snoop has launched a free credit score service in partnership with Equifax, making it the first app to combine money management and credit scoring in the UK.

Users of the app will now be able to manage their money amid cost-of-living increases, set budgets, control their finances and improve their credit score.

Last year, Snoop was acquired by Vanquis Banking Group, giving it access to the specialist bank’s 1.7 million customers and providing it with an injection of capital.

Snoop’s chief executive officer John Natalizia, said: “We’re thrilled to partner with Equifax to bring free credit score access to the Snoop app.

“This means you can now easily monitor your credit score alongside all the tools you need to build a better credit history, make informed financial decisions, unlock better financial opportunities and reach your financial goals.”

Archna Luthra, personal finance expert at Snoop, added: “In today’s challenging landscape it’s crucial to understand your credit history and how lenders view you so you can secure access to the best credit deals.

“If you want to quickly improve your creditworthiness focus on these simple steps: register to vote, correct errors on your report, always repay on time and keep your balances to below 30% of your credit limit.”

Snoop scooped two awards at the Open Banking Expo Awards 2022 for the second consecutive year.

The app was named the winner in the Best App – Consumer and Best Use of Open Banking Data categories, with the judges remarking on how “user centric” it is.

Snoop was founded by former chief executive officer of Virgin Money Dame Jayne-Anne Gadhia, who was recently appointed chair of Ozone API.
