On LinkedIn, he wrote: “I join at a very exciting time, with Mastercard becoming an Accredited Data Recipient earlier this year, and quickly moving into Active status.

“I am pleased to be able [to] combine my #consumerdataright experience with Mastercard’s deep expertise in payments, and as an open banking leader with Finicity a Mastercard Company in the US and Aiia in Europe.”

Last year, Charnley founded Open Finance Advisors, providing specialist consulting services on Open Banking and Open Finance to Australian and international businesses.

Prior to that, he was head of Australia and then chief executive officer, ANZ at TrueLayer, until October 2022 when it paused operations in the region.

On an episode of the Open Banking Expo Unplugged podcast earlier this year, Charnley discussed the findings of Open Finance Advisors’ ‘Australian Open Banking Ecosystem Map & Report’, which identified data reliability and implementation issues in the country.
