Buy-now-pay-later (BNPL) fintech Klarna has hit a record 20 million users in the US, as its shopping app clocks up 4 million monthly active users.
Klarna announced that its US customer base has doubled since June 2020 and said it has also seen growth among merchant partners in the region.
According to data from App Annie, the Klarna app maintains 4 million monthly active US users as daily downloads surpass its closest competitor by 20%.
“The rapid growth of Klarna customers in the US speaks to consumer demand for flexible payment options and a more seamless, convenient shopping experience,” said David Sykes, head of North America at Klarna.
The BNPL fintech revealed that its no-fee, personalised rewards club Vibe has grown to more than 1.8 million members since launching in June 2020, while Vibe members have claimed nearly $2.8 million in gift cards to use at retailers, including Amazon.com, Sephora, H&M and Target.
It also reported that US users have added more than 8 million items to their ‘Collections’ – one of the features on the Klarna app – to date.
The company, which was recently valued at $45.6 billion, said its overall US retail partnerships rose to 10,000 as of July 2021, a 132% increase since June 2020.
Sykes added: “In the year ahead, we will continue to expand our US merchant base, offering greater opportunities for customer acquisition and engagement.”
