Stockholm-based Brite Payments has appointed former chief technology officer at SOFORT and VP of engineering Klarna, Jan Plasberg, to its board.
As a board member, Plasberg will support the company’s upcoming product launches and its ongoing expansion plans.
As well as his roles at buy now, pay later provider Klarna and at SOFORT, Plasberg has held senior leadership positions at Skype, Microsoft and, most recently, Trade Republic.
“When the opportunity arose to join Brite’s board of directors, I knew this wasn’t an opportunity to miss,” he said.
“Brite is an upcoming second-generation fintech utilising the team’s diverse experience to enhance the customer experience of payments, and with my previous background in product and engineering, I am excited to support the team’s ongoing growth plans and mission to improve the speed and ease of the payment process for users across sectors.”
Brite Payments, which uses Open Banking technology to process account-to-account payments in real-time between consumers and online merchants, operates across 21 European markets.
Back in July, Brite Payments launched a new recurring payments service in Sweden, to improve how consumers pay subscription-based online businesses. The product will be rolled out to additional markets as demand arises.
Commenting on Plasberg’s appointment, Lena Hackelöer, founder and CEO of Brite Payments, added: “We are all excited to have Jan joining our board and sharing his enthusiasm for the future of payments.
“Jan has been following Brite since the beginning and has such a fantastic expertise in the payments industry, so I am very pleased to formalise his advice by having him join the board of directors.”
