ClearBank, which enables real-time clearing and embedded banking for financial institutions, has appointed Emma Hagan to the newly-created role of chief executive officer of ClearBank UK.
Hagan, who is currently chief risk and compliance officer at ClearBank, will take up the role following regulatory approval.
She previously served as chief risk officer for EMEA at Silicon Valley Bank and has also worked in various roles at Lloyds Bank and HBOS.
In her new role, Hagan will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of ClearBank’s operations in the UK.
Shonaid Jemmett-Page, chair of the UK board at ClearBank, said: “Appointing Emma as UK CEO is a critical step in positioning the bank for international expansion and meeting our growth ambitions in the UK and beyond.
“Emma has been integral to ClearBank’s success since she joined the business in 2020, and she has demonstrated her exceptional leadership and dedication to the business in that time.”
ClearBank’s clients include Chip, Tide, Raisin and digital investment platform Wealthify, which launched its first instant access savings account earlier this month enabled by ClearBank.
“ClearBank continues to go from strength to strength, buoyed by our unique combination of fully-licensed banking services, next generation technology platform, and innovative business model,” said Hagan.
“It has been a privilege to be part of ClearBank’s impressive journey, and I’m excited to lead our UK team and build on its significant successes to date.”
ClearBank recently hired the Barclays and former Starling Bank executive Megan Cooper to lead its product management team and develop product strategy.
