Former RAF combat helicopter pilot and squadron leader Sarah Furness will be delivering a keynote at our first Women in Open Banking Meetup of 2024, on 13 March in London.
After graduating from the University of Cambridge, Furness became a helicopter pilot in the RAF and, as a squadron leader, she led on operational combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, becoming the first female helicopter pilot to fly and lead UK Special Forces missions in Iraq.
Furness is now the founder of Well Be It and a best-selling author of ‘Fly Higher’, in which she translated the lessons she learned “under fire” into “military-grade mindfulness strategies for improved self-leadership”.
In her own words, Furness says: “For years I yearned to be described as ‘nice’. These days, I’ve learned to settle for ‘impressive’.”
Hear from Furness about fearless leadership and courage under fire at the Meetup on Wednesday 13 March, from 9.00-11.30am at Balls Brothers in London.
The keynote will be followed by six peer group workshops around the themes of work-life balance, leadership, and getting more women into tech, among others.
Each of the six group discussions will give members a chance to share their fears, ideas, views and experience, and to work through any pain points.
Members of Women in Open Banking will also have the opportunity to network, and/or to catch-up with their mentor or mentee.
There are only 90 tickets available for the event, which starts at 9.00am GMT, so click here to find out more about the agenda and register.
