Open Banking Expo can reveal that American Express has renewed its Women in Open Banking partnership in 2024.
The initiative launched in partnership with American Express in October 2022 and, since then, has established a mentoring scheme and hosted a series of meetups for members.
The aim of the initiative is to supercharge careers, by building a more diverse pool of role models and leaders, making Open Banking the industry of choice for future female leaders.
Holly Coventry, vice president, International Open Banking payments at American Express, said: “We are delighted to renew our partnership with Open Banking Expo, to continue opening doors for women in the sector.
“It’s vital we continue to work together as an industry to accelerate the pace of change we are currently seeing, and to champion the strong existing female talent in the sector whilst attracting the next generation.”
Kelly Stanley, co-founder of Open Banking Expo, said: “We are thrilled to continue our Women in Open Banking partnership with American Express as we head into 2024.
“Holly and her team have been incredible champions of women in the industry and, here at Open Banking Expo, we value their ongoing support of this vital and growing initiative.”
She added: “We can’t wait to bring our Women in Open Banking members together again in 2024, through mentoring, meetups and our WhatsApp group.”
Across the Women in Open Banking meetups held in 2023, members heard from Charlotte Crosswell, chair of the Centre for Finance, Innovation and Technology, about honing her negotiation skills, while Charlotte Wise, director, International Open Banking payments at American Express took part in a panel session about effective communication.
At Open Banking Expo Canada on June 15 last year, female speakers representing Mastercard, CIBC, National Bank of Canada, Symcor and League Data discussed female representation in the industry and revealed the impact on levels of financial inclusion.
Membership of Women in Open Banking has grown to 540 globally, with 358 members based in the UK.
The second cohort of the mentoring scheme will soon get underway with 26 new mentor/mentee pairings.
