Financial super app Revolut has appointed Francesca Carlesi as UK chief executive officer, having previously worked at Deutsche Bank and Barclays.
Carlesi will join Revolut UK in December this year, from UK-based digital mortgage lender Molo, which she founded and where she was chief executive officer.
As well as having served in senior roles at Deutsche Bank and Barclays, she has worked at McKinsey and Bridgepoint Capital.
Carlesi said: “Revolut is the future of digital banking. With nearly eight million customers in the UK and a diversified product offering, the company is at the forefront of change in financial services.
“There are so many growth opportunities and I couldn’t be more excited to be leading the way for the UK. We have big things planned, so watch this space.”
Richard Holmes, chair of Revolut UK, added: “I am delighted to welcome Francesca to the Revolut UK team. As we continue to build out our leadership team, her extensive experience across the banking and fintech sectors makes her the perfect CEO to drive our UK business forward.
“As a founder of her own fintech, and having spent many years across the banking industry, Francesca knows what it takes to challenge the banking incumbents, and I look forward to celebrating her successes here in the months to come.”
Revolut, which is yet to secure a UK banking licence, recently revealed its biggest update ‘Revolut 10’, overhauling the design and layout of the app.
In October, Revolut also revealed that, since 2021, its financial crime headcount has doubled.
Data disclosed by the company revealed more than a third of Revolut’s workforce is now dedicated to tackling financial crime, with more than 2,500 FinCrime experts across six markets.
