Lord Chris Holmes MBE, Britain’s most successful Paralympic swimmer and technology advocate, will deliver the opening keynote on Day One of Open Banking Expo UK and Europe in London.

Earlier this year, Lord Holmes was appointed as an adviser by Open Banking provider Ecospend, and he also sits on the Science and Technology Select Committee.

Lord Holmes has previously been a member of specialist House of Lords Select Committees dealing with democracy and digital technologies, digital skills, social mobility, and financial exclusion.

In his keynote, titled ‘Open Banking: The future, now’, Lord Holmes will set the scene, telling the story of “born in Britain” Open Banking so far, before identifying the “non-obvious” opportunities that lie ahead.

Speaking on the Main Stage, he will address the move from Open Banking to Open Finance and will tell delegates “what is now required from all of us”.

At the time of his appointment by Ecospend in April, Lord Holmes said: “We have a great opportunity to be growing this UK technology in other international markets.

“This technology will only grow in prominence as more businesses become aware of the many benefits it can bring.”

Hear Lord Holmes speak on the Main Stage at 9.35am on Wednesday, 18 October at the Business Design Centre in London.
