Real-time payments gateway Volt has appointed Irina Chuchkina as its first chief marketing officer, following roles at Thunes, Rapyd, Grab and Visa.

Most recently, Chuchkina served as chief marketing officer at Singapore-based payment infrastructure platform Thunes, where she led its global marketing strategy.

Prior to Thunes, she held senior marketing roles at payments scale-up Rapyd, Southeast Asia’s super-app Grab and Visa.

At Grab, Chuchkina helped to launch mobile wallet ‘GrabPay’, as well as its loyalty platform GrabReward.

In her new role at Volt, she will be responsible for global marketing strategy as the company expands globally.

“I firmly believe in the transformative power of real-time payments,” Chuchkina said.

“Over the next few years, they will disrupt the status quo and reshape the payment ecosystem, and there is currently no company that is better suited to lead this evolution than Volt.”

“I couldn’t be more excited to join Volt at this time as the company’s first chief marketing officer, to help it realise its immense potential, grow the value and power of its brand, and help the company expand into new markets,” she added.

Tom Greenwood, Volt’s founder and chief executive officer, said: “Irina’s experience in payments and marketing is second to none and I couldn’t be more delighted to welcome her to the team.

“To have someone of Irina’s stature within the industry taking on the role, is a testament to the great progress we have made.”

He added: “Continuing to build on our global vision is a primary objective. Irina’s international experience will play a crucial role in ensuring our success.”

In June 2023, Volt secured $60 million in a Series B funding round led by investor IVP, to fund its expansion into APAC and the US.

Then, in November, Volt launched in Australia where its gateway will be integrated with Australian digital payment platform PayTo.
